Delivered under a sub‑contract agreement between Wai Skills and Te Mahi Ako (a NZQA‑Registered Private Training Establishment).

Course Overview

This programme provides a comprehensive introduction to the safe and effective operation of swimming and spa pools. Participants gain essential knowledge of water quality requirements, pool treatment systems, and chemical safety, along with practical skills in water testing and monitoring.

Learners also have the opportunity to achieve Unit Standard 20046 – Monitor pool water quality and the safe storage of chemicals, supporting their professional development within the aquatics sector.

Assessment

The assessments for this programme are designed to support both learning and real‑world application:

• In‑class Assessment (Open Book): Completed during the course to demonstrate understanding of key concepts.
• Workplace Assessment: Completed in the participant’s own workplace to confirm practical competency in monitoring water quality and managing chemicals safely.

All assessment requirements must be completed within 12 months of attending the course.

Successful completion of both assessments results in the awarding of Unit Standard 20046 - Monitor pool water quality and the safe storage of chemicals.
